Howdy My FDFs,
The beauty of having such a long list last week that took us all the way to Halloween, is that this week it was mostly a matter of editing out what’s already happened (although there are a couple of new nuggets in the list, but I’m not going to tell you where. This is my version of “Where’s Waldo?”).
I haven’t got much to say to you this week [Too tuckered out from keeping up with today's drama of "Balloon Kid." What a crock!], except that last Sunday was fun. Big thanks to everybody who showed up for the Third Street Potluck Blue Dance Party even though, as I suspected, it’s starting to get a little colder. Therefore, in order to keep you from freezing, we may just have one more Potluck Blues Dance this year before we shut down for the season (unless December is unseasonably warm).
In order to go out with a bang, I’d like to also make the final 2009 Potluck dance a benefit for the homeless. So if you have any extra warm clothing in the back of your closet that will be better served by keeping someone from freezing this winter instead of just gossiping with your cowboy boots and lederhosen, then start gathering them up and then bring them along and we’ll see that they get to a local shelter at the next Potluck Blues Dance which is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, in the Third Street Promenade.
Also, I’m looking for a few scary good dance events that are actually worth my dressing up in an uncomfortable barely danceable costume in order to attend. If you know of any, hit me up in time for next week’s DWDr.
See you on the dance floor!

Come get a taste of bona fide old school blues like your momma liked with CHRIS CAIN tonight at HARVELLES SANTA MONICA.

But if you want it slower and blusier your best bet might be some Blues, Soul and R&B from the amazing KIRK FLETCHER at HARVELLES SANTA MONICA
EDITOR’S NOTE: I finally was able to check this out last Monday night. I can’t believe I’ve been missing it all this time. The house band run by KF is so damn good that it actually hurt that THERE WERE NO DANCERS! Come catch a piece of this action before the word gets out and the place gets packed. Plus at $5 for the cover, you’re going to be hard pressed to beat this!

But I might have to go see this band because their irreverent name just appeals to my silly sensibilities and carnivorous nature. GRILLIN’ BUNNYZ brings the bluesy soul and funk tonight at HARVELLES SANTA MONICA
EDITOR’S NOTE: If you haven’t picked your Halloween costume by this point, you’re either going to be a ghost, a vampire or a pirate. Better get cracking.

Need I say more than CAFÉ (Freakin’) R&B tonight at HARVELLES SANTA MONICA
Yes I do because LAVAY SMITH will return to Southern California with a show at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall in Northridge on October 24th. There had just better be a damn dance floor! (I’ll check as this gets closer.) (It doesn’t look like it…:( )
